For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through the endurance taught in the Scriptures and the encouragement they provided we might have hope.
Romans 15:4
Holy Family Church holds Religious Education on Wednesday nights from 6:30 – 7:30 PM between the months of September to May. If you help teach, hall monitor, or sub, your child’s Religion is free for that year.
I am interested in teaching, who do I contact?
If you are interested in teaching, please contact Beth Geis. We have a strong program with 190+ students. We are always in the look for parents or parishioners to help us with the program; we look for our teachers in the summer/fall before the year starts. If you would like to be a hall monitor or sub & it’s during the school year, please contact Beth Geis and she can help you out.
I am interested in helping with the program, but I do not want to teach. How else can I help?
We are ALWAYS looking for Hall Monitors & Subs (Please look below).
We do fundraisers throughout the year that we also need help with every year. Two of our biggest fundraisers are our Rummage Sale & Turtle Soup.
Vacation Bible School is held the 4th week of July and every year we need adult leaders! If you are interested in any of these, please contact Beth Geis.
What does a Hall Monitor do?
A hall monitor is a great way to be involved in our program if you want to teach and be in the classroom.
We have a hall monitor or two in the Old Stone Church Building that stays in the hallway to help navigate kids in the restroom, making sure they are doing what they need to. They also help teachers if they need anything or need supplies.
We have a few hall monitors in the School Building that make sure children are behaving before and after class, are using the restroom when they leave, and helping teachers if they need anything.
Hall Monitors most of the time are roaming the halls, but sometimes they help with the bigger events that the Religious Education program has: Meetings, Halloween Night, Christmas Time, Reconciliation, etc.
Hall Monitors are crucial to our program because if Beth is unavailable, the teachers still have someone to rely on.
What does a Sub do?
A sub if a great way to be involved in our program if you do not want to have to help every week.
Subs help with Religion when teachers are unavailable due to vacation or sickness. Most of the time we know ahead when a teacher will be absent and we look for subs immediately, so you can put it in your schedule – although we appreciate those subs that can be flexible and last-minute if a teacher ends up sick. Most subs help with ALL ages, depending on which teachers are in and out.
The Religious Education Program is one of the many ways to help, but if you want to work with children, this is a great way to do that. Please consider working with our parish children as they need great role models to help lead them closer to Christ.
