Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with you. Blessed are you among women and blest is the fruit of your womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of death. Amen. You were chosen by the Father; you were chosen for the Son. You were chosen from all women and for woman, shining one.
Hail Mary, Gentle Woman
In the Catholic Faith, May is the month of Mary. During this time, it is a Catholic tradition to crown her statute with flowers. “Moving tribute of faith and love which Catholics in every part of the world pay to the Queen of Heaven.” – Pope Paul VI. The crown symbol is attributed to Mary because she is the Mother of the Son of God, who is our Heavenly King.
Holy Family has a tradition of ending the Religion year with a May Crowning Mass and ice cream to follow. It is the first Wednesday of May at 6:30pm every year. This Mass is geared towards our children of the Religious Education Program. Each grade has 2-3 students who carry up roses to Mary at the beginning of Mass. A First Communion boy carries the Crown to an 8th grade young woman who was just Confirmed. We are very excited to have this tradition back into our program!
